Calle Ocho Festival

Transportation for Calle Ocho Festival

For an entire week every March of each year, a certain part of Miami transforms into a festive venue for a traditional Latin party. Calle Ocho (SW 8th street) attracts more than a million spectators that come together in order to celebrate Miami’s biggest street festival. This year, the Calle Ocho festival begins in March 5. It starts with the 8K Carnaval Miami run and lasts until March 15 with a block party. Among the most interesting events in the Festival is the Baptist Health Domino Tournament.

This tournament reflects one of the oldest traditions of the Cuban community. Happening on March 12 this year, the tournament will be held at the corner of Calle Ocho extending to the 15th Avenue, at the Domino Park. Many famous domino gurus from Miami and all over the United States will compete for big cash prizes. Another important part of the festival is the Carnaval Miami Gold Classic. This will be held on March 13 at the Miccosukee Golf and Resort in Kendall. If you are a golfer and you want to participate in this annual tournament, you will definitely find delight in the resort’s 18-hole par 72 course.

Although the tournaments will surely be exciting, nothing beats the vibrant block party that will be held on Sunday, as the finale of the festival. The Calle Ocho Festival party will include thirty stages of live entertainment – from dancing to dining – which will be prepared by famous Latin performers and local vendors of delicious food and refreshments.
